 10:15 pm - Unknown Hinson arrives at WRFX Studios in Charlotte, NC. He brings Allan some souvenirs. This is the first meeting between Allan and Hinson. They talk and field calls for the next hour. Hinson is genuinely funny but has an edgy dark side. In the first hour it becomes apparent why they call him "The Psycho Redneck". |
 11:50 pm - Hinson fields calls. Talk turns to Rock & Roll which Hinson HATES and things begin to get tense between Hinson and Allan. Several callers take Hinson to task over his treatment of women and his distaste for Rock & Roll. Allan manages to keep the peace and the show continues. The switchboard is lit up like a Christmas tree. |
 12:15 am - Allan asks Unknown Hinson to play his guitar. Hinson responds that he hasn't been paid yet and Allan assures him that they have a check on the way to the studio. Hinson demands cash and refuses to play any more songs until he gets it. "Do you know how hard it is" Hinson asks, "to cash a check made out to 'Unknown'?" He packs up his guitar for the evening. Unknown continues to demand money so Daniel Norwood, the show's producer, leaves the studio to pick up a check from the station management. |
 12:30 am - Daniel calls in from the road. He will not be able to get a check cut tonight. Hinson brandishes a pistol and demands to be paid. Allan assures him that he will get his money. The show continues but the tension lies thick in the air. The entourage in the studio are nervous and afraid to leave. Hinson is in a foul mood now and he leaves the pistol out on the desk in plain sight for the rest of the show. |
 1:05 am - After the show Allan walks over to Hinson to thank him. Hinson draws his gun on Allan and demands his money. Allan assures him he will be paid the following day but Hinson isn't satisfied. Some of the studio audience try to leave but Hinson decides to take up a collection. At gunpoint. |
 1:15 am - Daniel hands the money to Hinson while several of the guests and staff slip out of the studio. Hinson leaves happy, for the moment at least, but vows to come back on Monday for the rest of his money. |
The Unknown Hinson Show airs in Charlotte on cable channel 18, Friday nights at 11pm
