Sunday night, Allan pays a tribute to The Great American DJs with
David Carson, the author of Rockin' Down The Dial: The Detroit Sound
Radio. Recently, Allan has interviewed several recording industry
insiders such as Bill Flanagan, Senior VP at VH-1 and author of
A&R, and Tim Sweeney, author of The Complete Guide to Internet
Promotion for Musicians, Artists, & Songwriters. A recurring
theme has been the state of radio today and where the future of
radio is headed. We expand on that theme Sunday night with
a show dedicated to you, the listener. What do you want from
radio? What changes would you make? Call in with your
suggestions. About our guest David Carson, Tim Kiska of Detroit
News Radio
writes : "Rockin' Down the Dial might be the definitive
history of modern-day rock radio in Detroit." The book
is available at
Amazon .

Later it's the "King of the Underworld" and
"psycho-redneck", Unknown Hinson. This cable-access
guy claims he spent 30 years in prison for 83 criminal charges.
Unknown Hinson has been accused of murder, grave robbery, vampirism
and 54 traffic violations. He maintains however, that he's
innocent on all charges. Perhaps one of the country's best
guitarists, his very strange life and music may soon be the basis
for a Hollywood movie. This guy is very weird! His CD
is The Future Is Unknown. To buy his CD, go to his
web site
.
8/14/00 UPDATE:
What an outrageous show! Early on in the show there
was a little tension between Unknown and Allan as they discussed
Rock and Roll. Unknown Hinson HATES Rock and Roll. Tensions
mounted but everything was under control until Unknown asked for
his appearance fee - in cash! First he put his guitar away
and refused to play. Then he brandished a pistol and threatened
Allan! Eventually he collected his fee at gunpoint from the
studio guests and staff. You've gotta see this to believe
it!

Scheduling note: Due to unforseen circumstances, Chuck Negron
has had to postpone his appearance. We hope to have him on
the show as early as next week and we'll let you know as soon as
we have a firm date.
From 1968 through the early 1970's, Three Dog Night was one
of the most popular bands in the world. But while lead singer
Chuck Negron was enjoying critical and commercial success, he was
also sinking into drug addiction. He is scheduled to talk
with us about how he pawned twelve gold albums for drug money, his
run-ins with the law, Janis Joplin & Beach Boy's Mike Love,
and his suicide attempt. Negron claims more than 100 hospital
stays and three dozen drug treatments failed him. This Sunday
we plan to speak with the author of Three Dog Nightmare, Chuck Negron.
